Due to a constant rise of fuels’ prices in the first quarter of 2018, competitiveness is threatened and the customers suffer the consequences of inevitable prices adjustments.
Indeed, from December 2017 to April 2018, the price of gasoil rose by 9,96 % !
Accounting for 61 % of gasoil total price, taxes play a major part in its overall pricing.
The domestic consumption tax over energetic products (TICPE) is set each year by the Financial laws. The TICPE is fixed and does not fluctuate with crude oil prices.
In 2018, the Financial laws increased the TICPE according to the environmental policy which aims to reduce greenhouse gases’ emissions.
One other factor is the crude oil Price itself. During the last 8 months, the prices rose by more than 30 %.
This rising trend is set to pursue, pushed by the taxes and the agreement between the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and Russia to reduce the production until December 2018.
